Night sleep can change again here
Sleep sometimes shifts as learning accelerates
Around week twenty-seven, sleep may take another small wobble. Nights that were settling can briefly feel less predictable again.
What is happening
Your baby is taking in a lot of new information during the day. New movement, new sounds, new social skills and the early signs of solids can all play a part. A busy brain often shows up at night, even when nothing else has changed.
Is this normal
Yes. Short dips in sleep around new skills are common and not a sign of regression in the wider sense. They usually settle within a couple of weeks as the new learning becomes more familiar.
What you may notice
- More wake-ups than usual
- Shorter stretches of deep sleep
- Naps that are easier to disturb
- A baby who wants extra closeness at bedtime
What helps right now
- Keeping the wind-down calm and familiar
- Offering feeds and cuddles when needed
- Going to bed earlier yourself when you can
- Trusting that this is a phase, not a new pattern
What to expect next
For most babies, sleep settles again as the new skills land. The patterns you had before usually return, sometimes with small adjustments to timing.
